At Least 50% of Sexually Active Men and Women

 

Human papillomavirus is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in the United States and about 14 million new genital HPV infections occur each year.

This group of the virus has more than 200 related viruses and most of them can be easily spread through direct sexual contact. There are two types of HPV- the low-risk HPV cause skin warts around the genitals and areas and high-risk HPV causes cancer and about a dozen of high risks HPV have been identified.

In today’s day and age, with the number of sexual partners, you can never be too sure and therefore as a sexologist it is my duty to remind y’all that it is extremely necessary to use protection every time you have sex- it’s not just the fear of pregnancy anymore there are a lot infections  that can be spread via sexual contact.
